Faq

All purchases are final.

Because these are digital products, we don't offer refunds.

Problems?

If there was an issue with payment or getting access to the download files post-purchase (not getting credit for the files, missing download links, incorrect links, etc), please let us know ASAP so we can get that sorted for you.

Some files will have several alternate folders in them - we only support the Alt 1 folder - the others are thrown in as bonuses. If there is a problem with the files in Alt 1, please let us know immediately so we can correct them. If the problem is with files in folders other than Alt 1, you're out of luck.

Quality

These are community-made digital files. We make every effort to ensure that the files are complete and printable, but some files may benefit from dropping them in Microsoft's completely free 3D Builder before printing to make any repairs they may need (it's literally a one-click fix in 3D Builder). Some files may need to be rescaled as well.

Refunds

These files are sold as-is so take that into account when purchasing. We don't offer refunds so make sure that you're okay with taking a chance on these files. We suggest buying a couple and printing them to make sure you're comfortable with these models before going crazy and purchasing everything you want.

Download immediately

After purchase, we suggest you download the files to your computer immediately. As you know, the proxy model community is constantly hit with copyright takedown notices so there's no guarantee our store will be up forever. We don't knowingly offer licensed models and we have a process for creators to request removal if some accidently make it into our files. But that isn't a perfect solution for an aggressive multi-national corporation.

A final note

Keep in mind that we're just like you - proxy-printing enthusiasts. We're not out here to rip anyone off or take advantage of them. We simply created the store and community we wish we had access to when we started collecting proxy models. So feel free to reach out to us!

What the two numbers mean

The first number is how close the model is to the original

Ranges, between 90-65.

90= A 1:1 scan or sculpt - should look exactly like the photo.

85= A sculpt that is really close to the original with some slight variations. Builders (multipart files that allow full customization of the model) are usually 85s. An 85 will look identical to the official model to the casual observer.

80= An obvious, good proxy of that model but not 1:1.

65= An artistic re-imagining of the official model. We only include 65s if they are amazing and would consider using them over the official model.

The second number is how detailed the model is

This isn't a rating of the quality of the actual digital file, just the quality of detail that will show on the printed model.

10 = extremely detailed - will always be a sculpt. Display quality.

9 = very detailed - will usually be a cleaned up 3D scan of the model. Display quality.

8 = moderately detailed. Usually a 3D scan and is perfectly fine for tabletop play but some of the details will be a little soft so probably won't work for display pieces.

= A 3D scan that's only good if you want a 1:1 of the official model but details will be soft. Once painted and on the game table, they look fine.

7= Only get it if you just want a 3D scan of this model - will have some pretty soft details.

Buying Guide

If you want 1:1 files, you should purchase files rated at 90 - that's 1:1. A 90/10 is a 1:1 sculpt. A 90/9, 90/8, or 90/7 is a 3D scan. We have the 90/7s on the site for people who just want a 1:1 for a game they're playing. The 90/7s will look fine for the tabletop if you put some quick paint on it, but a 90/7 isn't going to be something you'll want to display.

Anything not rated 90 is a sculpted proxy. 85s are excellent and are usually builders (a multipart kit with lots and lots of options). A lot of people prefer an 85 over a 1:1 because there are usually more option in the builders than the 1:1. It should be noted that the 85s are an extremely close match to the 90s - most people won't be able to tell that it's a proxy. So - with an 85 - you get a super close 1:1 with way more configuration options.

Keep in mind that we don't have exclusive distribution rights to these files. While most (about 90%) are not available on the public internet, some ARE publicly available - and some are available for free elsewhere.

The main reason to purchase from NerdEmpire is convenience - so you don't have to spend hours chasing down files that have already been removed or endlessly downloading poor quality proxies hoping you'll get something usable. If saving money is more important to you than saving time, we highly recommend you search for files on the public internet before purchasing anything from us.

If you have any questions about the files - you're concerned you may already own them from elsewhere - just contact us and we'll be happy to help you out before you purchase anything.
